Trees
Trees are vital to the long-term health of our park! Find out more about how we help to improve tree cover in Brockwell Park and how you can get involved.
Tree project
We need your help to increase the tree cover in Brockwell Park.
We are working to enhance the park’s ecology and biodiversity by increasing its tree cover, currently just 2%, which is very low, even for London parks. New trees are vital to the ecosystem's long-term health, particularly as soil compaction from large-scale events has shown to put additional stress on mature trees (see Agronomist’s report). They also help avoid flooding and areas that are prone to become waterlogged, such as the Brixton Water Lane and Dulwich Road sides. We work closely with the Parks Department to select appropriate species and locations, ensuring each planting supports the wider tree strategy for Brockwell Park. Through our tree donation programme, you can gift a tree to the park (typically costing around £385, including planting, support, and aftercare) and play a direct role in helping Brockwell Park thrive for future generations.
Over the course of this initiative we have planted xx trees!
