Brockwell Park thrives because of the many people, places and organisations that bring it to life and help make it the vibrant and unique place we all enjoy. From the BMX track to the Lido and the Greenhouses, this directory showcases some of the spaces we value and support - each is independently run, so for bookings or more information please contact them directly, plus check out our accessibility map here.

Health & Fitness

Brockwell Lido

Brockwell Lido is an unheated 50m Olympic-sized pool - a much-loved local landmark which has been at the heart of the local community since 1937. The Art Deco Grade II listed building offers year-round swimming, health and fitness facilities, activities, sessions and courses for people of all ages and abilities. Pizza is available from 400 Rabbits‍ the poolside café. Brockwell Lido Users (BLU) is the official group for all lido users working to make sure it stays open and available to all.

BMX Track

Established in the 1980s, the BMX track is located up the hill from the Lido and features a starting ramp with a looping hilly track. Brixton BMX Club are a friendly community of riders, supporters and enthusiasts with a shared passion for BMX racing. They have exclusive use of the track from 9am - 1pm on weekends but otherwise it is open and free to ride.

Nature

The Ponds

There are three connected ponds in the park - remnants of the lost River Effra. The Friends have been working together with other community groups to help restore the ponds, improving their health and providing a new habitat for amphibians.

The swans, ducks and other birds who live here are cherished residents of the park,

Secret Garden

Originally used as a kitchen garden to provide food for the estate, the walled garden is now a lovely place for quiet relaxation. Sculpted hedges, trellis and pergolas host an array of plants and flowers and there is a small fountain in the middle of the garden with plenty of benches to take a rest.

Greenhouses

Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses (BPCG) iare located near the Walled Garden and are open to the public from Thursday to Sunday 10am to 4pm. You can buy organically grown fruit and vegetables and they run many events through the year such as wine tasting, gardening workshops, supper clubs, and gigs.

Activity

Miniature Railway

The Brockwell Park Miniature Railway was opened in 2003 and continues to delight both young and old today. It runs from the main Herne Hill Gate to the Lido and back. Open on Sundays between March and October ticket prices are £1 for all and Under 2s travel for free with an adult. First train at 11am and last train at 4pm. The last day in 2026 will be Sunday 1st November for a Halloween Special!

Sports

Brockwell Park boasts 6 tennis courts, a basketball court and cricket nets. The basketball court does not need to be booked and is free for all to enjoy. To book a tennis court visit the LTA website below - slots are available a week in advance and cost £8 per hour.

There is also a cricket pitch towards the Tulse Hill side of the park which you can book by sending an email to parkssportsbookings@lambeth.gov.uk

Food & Drink

Hall & Café

Set on the top of the hill and built between 1811 and 1813 by John Blades, Brockwell Hall is a stunning Grade II* listed building. It underwent major refurbishment between 2023 and 2025 funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. IT now has a new café and event space with a large courtyard which has already hosted weddings, film screenings and musical events. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors to enjoy the fantastic view.
