Tree Celebration in Brockwell Park

Brockwell Park annual tree ceremony

More than 80 people joined us on Sunday, 19 July 2026, for Friends of Brockwell Park’s annual Tree Celebration, marking 16 donated trees planted across the 2025 and 2026 planting seasons.

The event celebrated the trees themselves and the people to whom they are dedicated. Guided by FoBP volunteers, attendees visited each tree, where donors shared the stories behind their dedication before ceremonially untying ribbons with the Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Paul Valentine.

Tree dedications from the local community

Many of the trees commemorate loved ones or celebrate important moments in people’s lives, while others were donated simply to give something back to a park that has meant so much to them.

Together, we helped increase Brockwell Park’s biodiversity, with a carefully chosen mix of species providing food and habitat for wildlife, seasonal colour, and greater resilience of the park for the future.

Untying the ribbons

A big thank you to everyone who attended, to the Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor Paul Valentine, to the Lambeth Landscapes Tree Team - especially Poppy George - and to all those who helped make the day possible, including the Brockwell Hall team and the Glassmakers Cafe.
